An important department of art centre Saksala ArtRadius is the art education. With the huge collection of children's paintings from the AllaprimA Foundation and the experiences in art education from Marja de Jong the art centre can offer an interesting and well based package of different programs for (art) teachers in primary and secondary schools.

In 2006 there was an extensive program during the year with workshops, art courses and exhibitions.

The exhibition VIEW ON CHILDREN'S PAINTINGS 2 has started in summer to make a presentation for all the visitors of the art centre about the way art can be a part in children's education.

In autumn a special program for (art) teachers has started to have workshops, lectures and tours through the exhibition.

A special activity was the workshop from the Dutch artist Jolanda Schouten in September.
She has made an own installation of her work in combination with a workshop in the Ylä-aste of Haukivuori.
Creating an exchange between (international) artists and young people from the area of Haukivuori is one of the issues of the art centre. It will give a new view on the world around the students and develop also their foreign language skills.

The children's forest is also a part of the art education program and is an ongoing project also in cooperation with Haukivuoren Ylä-aste.

With different workshops in the field of drawing, painting, modeling and construction the various aspects of the artistic skills are getting a change.

Different artists are involved in this project.

In cooperation with Etelä-Savon Taidetoimikunta and the education department from Mikkeli city the art centre started to develop a program for a pilot group of primary and secondary schools in the region of Mikkeli to build up a new curriculum for art education.

Together with Etelä-Savon Taidetoimikunta an art education symposium is planned in July 2007.
